绿茶 is the Mandarin term for green tea.

lǜ chá

Name and context#

Green tea is one category named in UNESCO’s account of Chinese tea processing and social practices. That umbrella description is not a claim that every product, farm or shop has separate UNESCO recognition.

Questions for a tasting#

Ask which tea you are being served and follow the producer’s preparation instructions for that product. Compare two named samples before writing about their differences. Do not infer a fixed caffeine level, a medical effect or a universal brewing temperature from the category name alone.
