Tianyige in Ningbo was the private book repository of the Ming official Fan Qin.
Documented place and context#
The Palace Museum’s reference identifies Fan Qin and his private library in Ningbo. A historic repository and a modern museum visit are different contexts: the association does not mean visitors can handle the original books, enter every storage area or use the building as a public lending library.
Planning your visit#
Save 天一阁 when identifying the institution. Distinguish the historic book repository, associated gardens and exhibition rooms. Check the current visitor notice for the particular area of interest. A lecture or temporary exhibition from an old listing is not evidence of a daily programme.
Scope#
This focused introduction is not a full city itinerary or a personal visit report. Planning questions are editorial suggestions. Current prices, transport and operating arrangements require confirmation with the named institution or provider.
