Qingming names both a solar term and a festival associated with remembering the dead.
Commemoration and local practice#
The national heritage account describes grave visits, remembrance and spring outings. Family and local arrangements are distinct from the exact astronomical moment of a solar term.
Calendar distinction#
The Qingming solar term corresponds to a solar longitude of 15°. Use an annual astronomical table for its time; do not calculate it by simply adding a fixed number of calendar days to an equinox.
Before a visit#
Ask the family or venue about its arrangements, access and any restrictions. A heritage description is not a current notice about cemetery hours, transport or permitted activities.
