The Zeng Hou Yi chime bells were excavated in 1978 from the tomb in Suizhou.

Documented place and context#

Hubei Provincial Museum’s collection record dates the bells to the early Warring States period and identifies the 1978 excavation. The record concerns a museum collection, while the tomb’s findspot is in Suizhou. A trip to the findspot should not be sold as a guarantee of seeing the original bells there.

Planning your visit#

Decide whether your purpose is to understand the excavation site, see original objects or attend a musical demonstration. Ask the relevant institution which purpose its visit actually serves. A performance can use replicas; identify them rather than calling any sounding set the excavated original. Check current display or performance availability separately.

Scope#

This focused introduction is not a full city itinerary or a first-person visit report. The planning questions are editorial. Current prices, opening hours, daily programmes and fixed journey times are not asserted. Confirm arrangements with the named institution or operator.
