Lingyin Temple’s own introduction dates its foundation to 326 CE in Hangzhou.
Historical or heritage reference#
The temple’s account associates its foundation with the monk Huili and describes later rebuilding. The age of a foundation does not mean that every visible structure survives unchanged from that year.
Before visiting#
Distinguish the monastery, a particular hall and the surrounding scenic area when reading directions or admission information. Consult the current operator’s announcement for access rather than reusing prices or hours from an older guide.
Scope#
Planning questions are editorial suggestions. A historical or religious account is distinct from a current operating notice and does not establish uniform visitor access.
