CC-CEDICT lists 火锅, huǒ guō, as hotpot in a food context.
What the reference establishes#
The word identifies a kind of meal, not one universal recipe or social arrangement. The dictionary entry cannot substantiate a 2,000-year chronology, a fixed two-hour ritual or a rule that people never eat hotpot alone. An account of one restaurant should not be used to characterize everyone in a region.
Questions to use in practice#
Before ordering, ask about the stock, cooking fat, ingredients and whether a divided pot meets the group’s needs. Agree how shared and individual dishes will be handled. Follow the venue’s preparation instructions rather than relying on a general narrative. These are editorial planning suggestions, not a report of an actual dinner or a claim about every restaurant.
Scope and source#
The questions are newly written editorial guidance. This article is not a personal visit report, a complete recipe, a dietary certification or a verified biography.
