UNESCO describes Mount Wuyi’s biodiversity, cultural landscape and the pressures associated with tea production.
What the reference establishes#
The World Heritage account addresses conservation, the Nine-Bend River landscape and the need for sustainable tea production. Landscape-level biodiversity evidence does not establish the history of an individual cultivar; that requires a plant-specific record.
Questions to use in practice#
For a claim about a lost tea cultivar, request the plant’s identified name, research institution and dated conservation or breeding record. For a tea purchase, distinguish the cultivar, the growing location, the processing style and the finished product name. A World Heritage label alone does not establish where a packet’s leaves were grown.
